A Few Tips |
Installing Files: |
Ok, so you want to install some files in your Unreal Tournament Folder. There are
a few different files that you will come accross when unzipping downloaded "zip"
files. Check out the screen shot of my desktop below. This is how I do it ! Open Windows Explorer and resize it to half screen. Place it on the left side of your desktop. Now double click the downloaded zip file and have the Winzip screen on the right of your desktop. Files: .unr = map [left click and hold unr file and drag & drop into your "MAP" folder] .umx = music [same as above but into your "MUSIC" folder] .uax = sound [same as above but into your "SOUND" folder] .utx = texture [same as above but into your "TEXTURE" folder] .u = system file [same as above but into your "SYSTEM" folder] .int = system file [same as above but into your "SYSTEM" folder] UMOD = Just double click all UMOD files and they "SHOULD" auto-install. Unfortunately some don't work so well so you should check your folders on drive "C" to unsure it didn't "create" a new Unreal Tournament Folder of its own ? Sometimes they will and all you need to do is drag the files from the new folder into the correct folders under the original Unreal Tournament Folder as above. Then delete the empty UT Folder that was created. Some UMODs will let you unpack them to the desktop which is real nice. This way you can see what files are in the UMOD and manually drag them in as above. If you have any problems with UMODs, be sure to check out all of the above. |
You are welcome to email me if you have any problems, you will find my email link on the front page. I am no expert, but I do know my UT pretty good ! |

One more word of advice on the Dropping & Dragging. If you forget what goes where..........just
go through the folders in UT and see what is already in them. Then
you will know where your file belongs. Of course you can always use the "Extract" button on Winzip and it will remember
the folders you unzip to the most. This method works well also. Good Luck ! Brigzy. |
